Create and Manage Tags

Here you'll learn how to easily create and manage tags. Tags help you to better categorize and segment your contacts. Think of them as virtual sticky notes that you can assign to any contact. They help to stay organized and to address your contacts in a more targeted way.

Use tags based on the behavior or interests of your contacts. By combining manual and automatic SmartTags, you can segment your contacts even more specifically.

Important to know

It's important to keep your automations and your KlickTipp account well organized. Create manual tags only when necessary and consider whether they offer real advantages over automated SmartTags.

When manual tags are needed, choose names carefully. Ensure they are distinct from existing SmartTags to avoid confusion and prevent errors.

Creating Manual Tags

  • Click on → Automation Tags New tag  in the menu.
  • Enter a name for the tag and decide whether you want to assign or remove one or more additional tags
  • Click on → Create tag.
  • You can make the multidimensional tag a universal tag by deactivating the checkbox.
  • After that click on → ListbuildingListbuilding  in the menu. This will take you to the list building overview page.
  • Select the desired registration form.
  • Now click on the drop-down menu under → Additional tagging.
  • Enter the first letters of the tag you are looking for and select it.
  • Finally, click on → Save.

Important to know:

A new tag starts as a multidimensional tag. After saving, you can change this setting once. The universal tag applies to the entire contact, regardless of the email address.

A multidimensional tag only applies to individual email addresses of a contact. For further details, please refer to the article: Using SmartContact in KlickTipp.

Manual Tags vs. Smart Tags

When a contact registers, they receive a SmartTag based on the form used. This SmartTag appears as a clickable link in the contact history. Note that only manually created tags will show up in the → Tags section of the contact overview.

You can filter newsletters and campaigns in ContactCloud using SmartTags. Just type the first few letters of the registration form in the search field, select the form, and save your settings. Future entries from this form will be processed based on your selection.

You can also use tags for various checks. After applying them, you'll find them in both the contact overview and the contact history.

Unlike SmartTags, which are generated automatically based on user behavior or predefined criteria, manual tags need to be created by the user. Once you've created a manual tag, it becomes available for use across different dialogs within KlickTipp.
