Tools for the KlickTipp Affiliate Program
Use Custom Affiliate Links Without Tracking in KlickTipp
Create and send emails with custom affiliate links without converting them into tracking URLs. Use the %Link (URL)% function to preserve the original format of these links.
We’ll show you how to embed them in your emails. While tracking and click statistics are very useful, KlickTipp typically converts all URLs in emails into tracking links before sending.
However, in certain cases, it’s better to send the original links—especially when sending custom affiliate links to your affiliates. Learn here how to create custom affiliate links that KlickTipp won’t convert into tracking URLs.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Create Custom Affiliate Links
Here is an example of how you can create custom affiliate links with KlickTipp.
An example of an affiliate link for the KlickTipp affiliate program looks like this:
https://app.klicktipp.com/webinar/1796
The number after "webinar/" (here: 1796) is the affiliate ID of your affiliates.
In KlickTipp, we have created an additional field for the affiliate ID. Using the KlickTipp API, we automatically store the affiliate IDs of our affiliates. We can then access these affiliate IDs in all emails using a placeholder.
In our example, the placeholder is → %Subscriber:CustomField9140%.
The affiliate link that we want to use in our email is therefore:
https://app.klicktipp.com/webinar/%Subscriber:CustomField9140%
Prevent the Conversion to a Tracking Link
In order to send your affiliate links to your affiliates, the original link must be transmitted. In this case, KlickTipp should not convert the links into tracking links.
To do this, insert the custom affiliate link into the KlickTipp function → %Link:NoTrack(URL)%. The result for the text part of your email will then look like this:
%Link:NoTrack(https://app.klicktipp.com/webinar/%Subscriber:CustomField9140%)%
The domain of the URL in the href attribute must be identical to the domain of the URL in the description. This is important if you send HTML emails and want to use URLs as a description for the link. Otherwise, there is a risk that internet service providers will classify your email as a phishing attempt. They may not even deliver it.
The "Link:NoTrack" function is not only practical from a marketing point of view. The function also helps you to achieve better delivery rates. Let's now look at how you use the "Link:NoTrack" function in the HTML part of your email.
The source code for a simple link looks like this in HTML:
<a href="URL">Beschreibung</a>
We use the "Link:NoTrack" function in the href attribute of the link. In the description, you insert the URL with the placeholder without the "Link:NoTrack" function.
The source code for the affiliate link in the HTML part of your email will then look like this:
<a href="CustomField9140%)%">https://app.klicktipp.com/webinar/%Subscriber:CustomField9140%</a>
KlickTipp does not convert the URL in the href attribute of this link into a tracking link. The domains in the URL in the href attribute and in the link description are identical. In this example, it is always klicktipp.com. Emails to your affiliates are therefore not interpreted as a phishing attempt by the Internet service providers. KlickTipp replaces the placeholder %Subscriber:CustomField9140% with the saved affiliate URL.
Important:
Links that you provide with the function → %Link:NoTrack(URL)% are not converted into tracking links. This means that clicks on these links do not count toward your click statistics. Use the option of sending affiliate links in emails. Send your affiliate advertising material directly in your follow-up emails or newsletters - extremely effective affiliate marketing.
