Creating Unsubscribe Texts for Targeted Opt-Outs
In this article, we’ll guide you through creating unsubscribe texts in KlickTipp.
These texts allow your contacts to opt out of specific categories they might no longer find relevant. This way, contacts can unsubscribe from particular topics without leaving your entire newsletter service.
An unsubscribe link at the end of your emails is an important part of permission-based email marketing. The goal in email marketing is to ensure each contact receives only the information that’s relevant to them. If a contact's interests change, they can unsubscribe from certain topics.
Tag-based unsubscribe texts give you control over exactly which content each contact receives. Set up a campaign to handle unsubscribes by topic.
You can find the campaign template here.
Good to Know
We recommend creating at least two unsubscribe texts. This way, only the chosen tag is removed, rather than removing the contact completely from all emails.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Creating Unsubscribe Texts
- In the menu, select → List Building → Unsubscribe Processes → Unsubscribe Texts.
- Click on → New Delivery Text.
- Give the withdrawal text a suitable name and select the relevant tags. Create the message to the contact for this challenge text.
- Finally, click on → Save.
- Create at least one more replacement text in the same way.
Contact View After Clicking the Unsubscribe Link
- When contacts click the unsubscribe link, they’ll see only the options that match their subscriptions.
- When a contact selects an option, the corresponding tag is removed automatically. If they don’t select an option, they’ll be fully unsubscribed and will no longer receive any emails from you.
- Campaigns with this start tag will no longer be restarted once the tag has been removed. However, campaigns that have already been started will continue to run to the end. In the case of newsletters, the tag removal is automatically taken into account for future mailings.
- You can set which specific text the contact sees. You enter this in the → Message area in the edit dialog of the unsubscribe text.
Stop Campaigns After Tag Removal
If you'd like, you can stop a campaign as soon as a tag is removed. Simply add the “Goal” action to the campaign. To streamline the process, download our campaign template.
The “Goal” action should complement your existing campaign effectively. If the target isn’t met, the campaign will proceed as usual. To ensure proper functionality, use a separate branch of an “If...Else...”-action. Place the “Goal” action in this branch before the “End”-action.
