Set Up Essential KlickTipp Functions
Create Sending Addresses (DKIM, SPF, DMARC)
Want to target specific audiences with your email campaigns? If so, you’re in the right place! In this article, you'll learn how to create sending addresses in KlickTipp.
To ensure your emails reach your contacts and avoid the spam folder, it's crucial to use a DKIM signature, SPF, and set up a DMARC entry for your domain. These verify your sending addresses, proving they belong to you and building trust with Internet service providers.
DKIM, SPF, and DMARC apply exclusively to your own domain, so KlickTipp does not accept freemail addresses (e.g., Gmail, Outlook, etc.) as sending addresses.
Step-by-Step-Instructions
Sending Address With Your Own Domain
In the menu, click on → My Account → Settings → Sending Addresses.
Create an email address with your own domain. Click on → Add Email Address.
Enter Domain for DKIM Signature
To begin verifying your domain (in this example → klicktipptest.de), just click → Action next to the email address, then select → Manage Domain.
Alternatively, you can navigate to → My Account, go to → Settings, and select → Domains.
Enter your domain in the field, and then proceed by clicking → Add Domain.
In the dialog, you'll notice that the domain has now been added in KlickTipp but isn't yet active. It will be activated once you have configured the DNS settings with your host. Follow the instructions in the next step to set up the DNS entries with your host.
Set DNS Entries With Your Domain Host
The DNS settings for your domain must be configured through your domain host’s admin interface (e.g., ALL-INKL, IONOS, Strato). If your host isn’t listed here, we still recommend watching the video. Generally, the DNS settings are similar across different hosts.
Check DNS Entries and Verify Domain
Once you have set the DNS entries, you can verify their correctness by clicking → Check in the domain settings in KlickTipp. Keep in mind that it might take some time for the settings to take effect, depending on your host, domain settings, and TTL (Time to Live) values.
If everything is correct, the status of the entries will change to → OK and will be displayed in green. This indicates that all settings are properly configured. You can now select your verified sending address in any dialog and use them to send emails to contacts.
FAQs
Do I Need to Set an Extra SPF Entry?
If you're a Standard, Premium, or Deluxe customer, you don't need to set up an SPF entry separately. That's already covered by the three CNAME records.
Simply configure the CNAME records and the TXT record for DMARC. With these settings, you'll have successfully set up DKIM, SPF, and DMARC.
As an Enterprise customer with your own server, you need to set up an SPF entry for a subdomain. This entry may have already been configured during server installation.
What Happens to Mailing Addresses If DKIM Is Not Yet Activated?
The sending addresses you have already created can still be used for the time being. However, they will be marked → Without DKIM Signature - limited deliverability.
The emails will still be sent via our shared IP server on behalf of your email address.
What If the DNS Settings for DKIM Are Incorrect?
It’s possible that DKIM was previously active in your account, but the settings are no longer correct for some reason.
In such cases, KlickTipp will adjust the sending address to maintain DKIM functionality. The sending address will then appear as follows:
j.friedrich@klicktipptest.com <j.friedrich-klicktipptest.com@www29skj.staging-omega.click>.
The local part of the address is included in the rewritten sending address.
I Have an Enterprise Account. Does This Still Apply to Me?
Do you use sending addresses with your domain that were set up via the Whitelabel server? If so, you don’t need to take any additional steps, as these sending addresses have always been configured to work with DKIM.
If your sending addresses do not match your Whitelabel server’s domain, the shared IP sending rules apply. These rules are described above.
