Campaigns: Setup & Automation
Create Campaigns Effectively in KlickTipp
Creating campaigns in the Marketing Cockpit is simple and straightforward. With the right tools, you can automate workflows and design email series. You can also handle advanced tasks, such as updating contact records or triggering other campaigns.
This guide will walk you through the process step by step. Whether you’re just starting or building complex automations, you’ll learn how to create campaigns that engage your audience. These steps will help you achieve your marketing goals.
Good to Know
- Design your campaign to be as large as necessary, but keep it compact to maintain clarity.
- If possible, split large campaigns into smaller ones. This improves organization and reduces loading times.
- You can adjust or add email content to active campaigns.
- However, if you want to change the campaign structure, pause the campaign first. Click on the green active button in the Marketing Cockpit to do so.
- Only delete campaigns if no active contacts are assigned to them. This avoids accidental interruptions.
We recommend using the Chrome browser on macOS or Windows. It fully supports the technologies required for the Marketing Cockpit.

Step-by-Step Instructions
Create a New Campaign in KlickTipp
- In the menu, select → Campaigns → Campaigns → New Campaign.
- Enter a name for your campaign and click on the → Create Campaign button.
- This will take you directly to the campaign editing mode.
Design and Customize Your Campaign Actions
- You can design your campaign to suit your needs using a variety of actions.
- To do this, click on → + Add action under an action .
- Then click on the → Email icon.
- Add a “Wait” action in the same way.
- If you want your contacts to leave the campaign again, add an “Exit” action.
- You can also keep the campaign open if you plan to add actions later.
- If you want to add more actions, proceed in the same way.
- You can move or copy actions that have already been added. You can do this individually or together with the follow-up actions.
- To do this, click on an action and hold down the mouse button. Then drag it in front of or behind another action. A plus sign and a dashed mark will appear. You can release the mouse button there.
- You can use the selection window to choose how to proceed with the action. A maximum of four alternatives are available.
Set Start Condition
- Click on the start condition to select the condition for the campaign start.
- Name the start condition as clearly as possible. This way you can see at a glance which contacts the campaign starts for.
- Use the drop-down menu to select a specific condition. Here you can choose from tags, SmartTags or fields by scrolling down or up.
- Popular conditions are, for example, manual tags or registration via a specific registration form. However, these are just two of many other options.
- Save the start condition by clicking on → Save.
Add Email and Wait Actions
- Click on the “Email” action in the Marketing Cockpit.
- Under → Email , select an email that has already been created. Or create a new email using the plus sign on the right.
- Name the “Wait” action. It is best to use the set waiting time.
- Finally, click on → Save.
- Click on the “Wait” action.
- Name the “Wait” action - preferably with the specific waiting time you want to store.
- You can use the “Wait” action to implement a very sophisticated wait condition. However, we will limit ourselves here to a simple time interval of one day.
Finalize and Activate the Campaign
- Review other actions in the campaign and make edits as needed.
- To check, simply click on the small bell symbol at the top right. A to-do list will open showing the items still to be completed. If this is empty, you can start the campaign.
- Activate the campaign by clicking on the small red → Inactive icon at the top left.
- Enter the dispatch time to start the campaign. You can choose between → Immediately or → A Scheduled Time.
- If you select → Immediately, for example, the campaign will start immediately. This applies to all contacts who fulfill the campaign start condition. The campaign remains active for every new contact. As soon as it fulfills the start condition, it runs through the campaign.
